Nyc fashion week

Fashion lovers and connoisseurs all across the world gather to attend the semi-annual event
fashion week. Nyc fashion week is hosted in Manhattan over the course of 7-10 days, during
this time fashion designers' international fashion collections are shown to potential buyers, the
media, and the general public. This up and coming NYFW will occur in february, fashion week
dates are from Thursday, February 10 to Wednesday, February 15, 2023. The first ever New
York Fashion Week was hosted in 1943 by Eleanor Lambert, the first fashion week was called

“press week”.

The event was created to draw attention away from French fashion during world war ll, Fashion
industry members were unfit to travel to Paris to see French fashion runway shows. Press Week
developed into an event that made American fashion the power house it is today. In 1962
Lambert was one of the founders of the Council of Fashion Designers of America, an industry
framework made to advocate for American fashion as an economic force both in and out the

country

The golden years of the 21st Century carried on with being a fertile era for the New York
fashion scene with lively up to date labels, such as Rodarte, Prabal Gurung and Alexander

Wang, all joining the haute couture NYFW line-up. New York was quick to be in favor of the new
influx of bloggers, influencers and street style celebrities that are now Necessary according to
fashion week etiquette, monumentally broadening the influence of the brands that showed

there. In 2008, NYFW was captivating more than 230,000 attendees.

By the year 2010, around 300 shows were on the authorized NYFW schedule and the event
relocated to the more sizable Lincoln Centre, where it remains today. The rich culture of nyfw
and its fashion shows have brought designers and the community together. During the fashion
shows, an occasion hosted by a fashion designer to debut their upcoming line of clothing and/or
accessories during a fashion week. Fashion shows debut every season, distinctly the
Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter seasons. This is where the most current fashion trends and

status quotes are made.
